HNCII Marks National Doctors’ Day with Landmark Initiative to Address Critical Gaps in Cancer Care Access
Mumbai : Marking National Doctors’ Day with a commitment that goes beyond clinical care, the Head & Neck Cancer Institute of India (HNCII) has announced Free Surgical Oncology Consultations for individuals from economically weaker sections of society. The initiative seeks to remove financial barriers that often prevent patients from seeking specialist care early, enabling them to receive expert guidance and make informed treatment decisions. As India’s first and only dedicated institute for Head & Neck Oncology, HNCII remains committed to extending quality cancer care to those who need it most.
Effective July 1, 2026, the service is being offered as a permanent initiative, with free surgical oncology consultations available every Monday to Friday from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at HNCII, Mumbai. Eligible patients will be able to consult HNCII’s surgical oncology specialists without any consultation fee, ensuring that financial hardship does not become a barrier to seeking expert medical advice.
Healthcare experts emphasise that early detection remains one of the most important factors in improving cancer outcomes. Yet delayed screening, limited awareness, and financial challenges often result in patients seeking medical attention only after the disease has progressed to advanced stages, when treatment becomes more complex. Through this initiative, HNCII hopes to encourage earlier specialist evaluation among underserved communities, helping patients navigate their treatment journey with greater confidence and improving the chances of timely and effective care.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Sultan Pradhan, Chairman and Senior Surgical Oncologist, Head & Neck Cancer Institute of India (HNCII), said, “Doctors’ Day is an opportunity to reaffirm our responsibility towards the communities we serve. At HNCII, we believe that no patient should delay seeking expert medical advice because of financial constraints. Through this permanent initiative, we hope to make specialist surgical oncology consultation more accessible to individuals from economically weaker sections and encourage timely evaluation, which is often critical to better treatment outcomes.”
