Mumbai: HOSMAC, Asia’s leading hospital planning, design, and management consultancy, has been engaged by Cipla, one of India’s foremost pharmaceutical companies, to design and develop its Breathefree Lung Wellness Centre in Mumbai. The centre, inaugurated on January 26, 2026, is envisioned as a one-stop destination for comprehensive lung health diagnostics and wellness services.
Spread across approximately 8,000 sq. ft., the facility is located in Prabhadevi and planned on a single ground-floor level. HOSMAC delivered a turnkey design solution, with its scope encompassing Medical Space Planning, MEP Design, and Interior Design, ensuring the integration of clinical efficiency, regulatory compliance, and patient-centric design.
Following the successful design and execution of Cipla’s Lung Health Centre in Delhi, Cipla has once again partnered with HOSMAC for its Mumbai facility, reinforcing a shared vision of accessible, wellness-focused respiratory care. Building on learnings from the Delhi centre, the Mumbai Breathefree Lung Wellness Centre also incorporates adaptive reuse in healthcare architecture. The space was formerly a banquet hall and has been transformed into a fully functional clinical facility. This conversion required careful structural assessment and retrofitting to maintain structural integrity while aligning with healthcare norms and regulatory requirements.
Moving away from conventional sterile clinical environments, HOSMAC conceptualised the interiors around the theme of ‘Wellness’. The design approach focuses on creating welcoming, calming, and visually engaging spaces that reduce stress for patients, attendants, and healthcare staff alike. The interiors also incorporate eco-friendly materials, reinforcing the centre’s commitment to sustainability and holistic well-being.
The Mumbai Breathefree Centre includes three OPDs, a waiting area with seating capacity for 18-20 people, a sputum laboratory, and a physiotherapy unit, along with CT scan and X-ray services. The facility has been carefully planned to retrofit the existing structure while maintaining high standards of care and seamless patient flow.
Speaking of the new centre, Dr. Vivek Desai, Founder & Managing Director, HOSMAC, said, “Healthcare today must go beyond diagnosis and treatment, it must actively support healing, dignity, and long-term wellness. In respiratory care especially, the patient’s emotional and physical comfort plays a critical role in outcomes. At HOSMAC, we approach every project by aligning clinical functionality with human experience. This centre reflects that philosophy, enabling integrated lung care in an environment designed to reduce stress, improve efficiency, and ultimately support better health outcomes.”
