House of Avi Defies Systemic Exclusion: Unveiling the ‘Laxmi’ Collection for India’s Kinner and LGBTQ+ Communities

While corporate India marks Pride Month with temporary logo changes and performative campaigns, House of Avi is launching a direct, structural intervention. The brand today announces the upcoming launch of its highly anticipated ‘Laxmi’ collection, designed in collaboration with the iconic trailblazer of India’s transgender rights movement and Acharya Mahamandaleshwar of the Kinnar Akhada, Laxmi Narayan Tripathi. With this launch, House of Avi stands as the only footwear brand in India dedicated to providing permanent, high-fashion footwear designed specifically for the LGBTQ+ and Kinner communities.

This collaboration arrives at a critical historical moment. Laxmi Narayan Tripathi has initiated a constitutional challenge under Article 32 in the Supreme Court (Lakshmi Narayan Tripathi and another v. Union of India) to protect the right to self-determination against the restrictive mandates of the Transgender Persons Amendment Act of 2026. House of Avi’s upcoming collection is a direct statement of support for her work and a celebration of the guts required to live authentically beyond the gender binary.

For generations, transgender women and Kinner individuals have endured “footwear exile,” ignored by mainstream brands that cap women’s sizes at US 9 or 10. House of Avi is ending this exclusion. Utilizing its direct manufacturing facility in Uttar Pradesh, the brand has been scaling its artisan-crafted flats, wedge heels, mules, and shoes up to an unprecedented US size 20.

“Inclusivity is not a seasonal marketing checklist; it is a manufacturing responsibility. If the mainstream fashion industry is too lazy to engineer beautiful, feminine footwear for larger bone structures, we will happily do it ourselves,” said Avi Kumar, Founder and CEO of House of Avi.

By addressing the needs of an under-serviced market, House of Avi has turned a technical challenge into a distinct competitive advantage. This approach mirrors the brand’s global strategy, highlighted by its partnership with Guinness World Record holder Tanya Herbert, who wears HOA’s US size 18 footwear.

The ‘Laxmi’ collection will soon be available for worldwide shipping on the official House of Avi platform. To explore the range or secure early access, visit www.houseofavi.in.
