Hunnit Turns an Unmet Need in Indian Athleisure into a 40,000+ Customer Community

New Delhi: Hunnit, an Indian athleisure brand built around the evolving needs of women, is redefining what activewear can look and feel like in everyday life. With more women moving seamlessly between workouts, travel, coffee runs, workdays, walks, community workouts and recreational sports such as pickleball and padel, the boundaries between activewear and everyday dressing are becoming increasingly fluid. Hunnit’s proposition is rooted in a simple idea: athleisure should be designed for the way Indian women actually live.

With a community of 40,000+ customers, Hunnit has grown by focusing on the intersection of comfort, fit, functionality and self-expression. The brand was created to address a gap in the market for athleisure that considers Indian body types, weather and everyday lifestyles, while offering women clothing that makes them feel  comfortable, supported and confident.

At the core of Hunnit is a philosophy of giving your hundred percent while embracing your authentic self. The brand believes that activewear doesn’t need to be limited to performance-led dressing or a particular idea of how women should look. Instead, its focus is on creating versatile pieces that allow women to move through different parts of their day while feeling like themselves.

This approach is reflected in Hunnit’s sizing, which extends up to 4XL, as well as its product portfolio of approximately 200+ styles and 650 SKUs+ across colours and variants. Its hero categories include skorts, flare pants and polo-neck tank tops with built-in sports bras, designed to combine functionality with everyday wearability.

A key differentiator for the brand is HunnitHug™, its signature proprietary fabric developed with one thing in mind: ultimate comfort and functionality. Designed to feel as soft and comfortable as a gentle hug, the fabric was developed with the observation that many existing fabric compositions did not adequately address the needs of Indian consumers, particularly around sheerness, comfort and fit. Hunnit worked closely with its manufacturing partner to develop a proprietary composition that delivers the softness, support and functionality at the heart of the brand’s approach to everyday athleisure

Speaking about the brand, Utkarsh Sahu, Co-Founder & CEO, Hunnit, said, “Hunnit has always been about making women feel comfortable, confident and supported in what they wear.  As former athletes ourselves, we had experienced many of these pain points firsthand as customers and were often disappointed with the quality, fit and functionality offered by international brands. We saw an opportunity to create something that was genuinely designed with Indian women in mind from the fit and fabric to how and where they would actually wear these clothes. The fact that more than 40,000 customers have chosen Hunnit tells us that there was a real need for this approach, and the continued response from our customers gives us confidence in where we are headed.”

Shrishti Sahu, Co-Founder, Hunnit, said, “The way women are approaching movement today has evolved significantly. Athleisure is no longer limited to the gym; it is becoming part of everyday wardrobes, whether that is for a walk, a coffee run, travel or recreational sports. Having experienced these moments ourselves as former athletes and as customers, we understand how important it is for activewear to offer the right balance of comfort, fit and functionality. At Hunnit, we want to build products that move with women through all these moments, while continuing to pay attention to the details that matter, from fit and functionality to comfort and versatility.”

The brand’s journey has also been shaped by its understanding of what Indian consumers value. This is reflected in Hunnit’s strong repeat customer base, with approximately 60–70% of customers returning to purchase from the brand. Today, Hunnit is available across leading marketplaces including Myntra, Nykaa and Amazon, while continuing to expand its offline presence through Broadway, pop-ups, exhibitions and partnerships  across India.

Beyond the gym, Hunnit has observed its customers increasingly incorporating movement into their everyday lifestyles. Walking, recreational sports, community workouts and activities such as pickleball and padel are becoming part of consumers’ routines, with the brand seeing particular demand for its skorts across these activities.
