Hycare Anna Nagar Successfully Performs Debulking Surgery In The Ovary And Removes A Cancerous Tumour Malignant Abdominopelvic Mass

Commenting on the debulking surgery, Dr. Bharani, Senior Consultant Surgical Oncologist, Hycare Hospitals, Anna Nagar said, “We initially suspected a minor stage of cancer, post conducting a series of biopsy tests and expert pathologist opinion. Our medical team found a rare and dangerous cancerous tumour weighing 7000 gms which is 100 times heavier than a normal ovary; required an urgent surgical intervention to remove all the infected”.
After the surgery, the team of specialist doctors of Hycare explained the salient features of the operation and the rare, aggressive nature of the cancerous tumour. He/she said that the patient, Mrs. Radha (name changed) came to the hospital with a series of complaints including weight loss, abdominal distention, early satiety, and chronic pelvic pain, breathing difficulty etc. Prior to the surgery, the analytical report revealed a bulky abdominopelvic nodule. A normal ovary measures about 3-5 cm and weighs 5-8 grams. In this case, the tumour was significantly enlarged, this caused unbearable pain and necessitated urgent surgical intervention.
The case report has been sent to an international medical Journal. A peculiar case of Debulking Surgery and removal of 7 kg nodule to be reported from Chennai and the first survivor. This is also the first time in Chennai that this was done through an open surgical procedure.
