Hyundai Motor India Foundation donates INR 2 Crore to Tamil Nadu State Disaster Management Authority

Mumbai: Hyundai Motor India Foundation (HMIF), the CSR arm of Hyundai Motor India Ltd., today announced an additional contribution of INR 2 crore to the Tamil Nadu State Disaster Management Authority, supporting ongoing relief efforts in the wake of flood and damage caused by Cyclone Michaung in Tamil Nadu. The fund will be utilised to provide critical support in areas such as food, shelter, healthcare and sanitation.

Mr. Gopala Krishnan CS, Chief Manufacturing Officer, Hyundai Motor India & Trustee – HMIF, Mr. Jong Hoon Lee, Executive Director – Production, Hyundai Motor India and Mr. T. Saravanan, Vice President – Finance, Hyundai Motor India & Trustee – HMIF met Thiru M K Stalin, Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and handed over a cheque of INR 2 crore, demonstrating Hyundai Motor India’s commitment to support Tamil Nadu in these challenging times and aiding the region recover and rebuild.

Commenting on HMIF’s additional contribution Tamil Nadu State Disaster Management Authority, Mr. Un Soo Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India, said, “Tamil Nadu, our home state, has faced the brunt of Cyclone Michaung, and the aftermath has left many in distress. The resilience and unity displayed by the people of Tamil Nadu in the face of adversity are truly inspiring. To contribute tangibly to the recovery efforts, Hyundai Motor India Foundation has extended an additional fund of INR 2 crore to Tamil Nadu State Disaster Management Authority, which will be utilized to provide necessary flood relief and support for the affected communities.”

The latest donation builds upon Hyundai Motor India’s earlier contribution of INR 3 crore in the aftermath of cyclone to provide immediate assistance to affected communities. HMIF in association with state government authorities has already begun distributing essential relief kits containing dry rations, tarpaulin, bedsheets and mats in districts such as Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur and Chengalpattu.

In addition to this, dedicated medial camp will be established to address the immediate medical needs. Recognising the emotional toll such disasters can cause, Hyundai Motor India Foundation will also offer special counselling sessions to affected people. HMIF will also undertake village cleaning initiatives to address the post-cyclone sanitation challenges.
