National : Business challenges rarely come with textbook solutions. As organisations navigate technological disruption, changing workforce expectations and evolving business models, the ability to translate management knowledge into decisions and action has become increasingly important. This is also reshaping the relationship between business schools and industry, creating a greater role for executive education and consulting in addressing real-world organisational needs.

Against this backdrop, IMI has appointed Mr. Shashank Kohli as Head – Executive Education & Consulting, with responsibility for the function across its three campuses in Delhi, Kolkata and Bhubaneswar. With over 22 years of experience spanning executive education, leadership development, learning strategy and organisational development, Mr. Kohli will lead efforts to strengthen IMI’s engagement with organisations through executive learning and consulting initiatives.

Part of the RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, IMI is India’s first corporate-sponsored business school. Established in 1981, the institution has built its legacy around connecting management education with industry needs. Its Executive Education & Consulting function represents an extension of this relationship, bringing management thinking and institutional expertise to the challenges organisations encounter beyond the classroom.

As businesses respond to advances in artificial intelligence, shifts in the nature of work and increasing demands on leadership, the need for continuous learning extends beyond acquiring new skills. It also involves helping leaders navigate uncertainty, make informed decisions and build teams equipped to respond to change. Through its Executive Education & Consulting function, IMI aims to develop learning experiences and consulting initiatives that connect management knowledge with workplace application and organisational priorities.

Dr. Suresh Ramanathan, CEO, IMI, said, “Executive education provides an important link between academic knowledge and the evolving needs of industry. Organisations today need leaders who can adapt to change, make informed decisions and build effective teams. At IMI, we see an opportunity to deepen our engagement with industry through highly relevant short- and long-duration learning and consulting initiatives across our three campuses. Designed for executives and leadership at various levels in the organisation, our programs will deliver cutting-edge value through extensive customisation, often leveraging international partnerships. Shashank’s experience in executive education and leadership development will be valuable in advancing this effort and developing programmes that respond to the needs of organisations and their leaders.”

Mr. Shashank Kohli, Head – Executive Education & Consulting, IMI, said, “The value of executive education lies in what leaders are able to take back to their organisations and apply in practice. As businesses navigate changing environments, learning must remain closely connected to the decisions leaders make, the teams they build and the challenges they address. At IMI, I look forward to working with colleagues and industry partners to develop learning experiences that are relevant to these needs and translate into meaningful outcomes for organisations.”

Before joining IMI, Mr. Kohli served as Director – Executive Education at Great Lakes Institute of Management, Gurgaon Campus. His professional experience also includes roles at LHH, an Adecco Group company, and AchieveForum, formerly The Forum Corporation and now part of the Korn Ferry Group. He holds an Executive Post Graduate degree from the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT). His experience spans leadership development, organisational capability building, and business and digital transformation.

With Mr. Kohli’s appointment, IMI aims to build on its longstanding association with industry and strengthen the role of executive education and consulting across its three campuses. The focus is on extending management learning beyond formal academic programmes to engage with the evolving challenges of organisations and the leaders responsible for navigating them.
