New Delhi Congress MP Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday questioned the link between Billionaire businessman Gautam Adani and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.  Replying to the thanks giving motion to the Presidential Address in Parliament Mr Gandhi wanted to know the “magic” behind the unprecedented growth in the wealth of Adani business group.  The congress leader observed that the extraordinary ordinary growth was recorded from 2014 since Narendra Modi’s BJP government assumed power at the Center.

“After the BJP took over the government in 2014, the existing rule that only a company/person only with an experience in airports be given the responsibility of developing them was changed, and six airports were handed over to Adani,” Gandhi said and alleged that that India’s foreign policy was being tailored to suit the Adani Group.

To elaborate further on the “Adani effect” on India Mr Gnadhi narrated his experience during his just concluded Bharat Jodo Yatra. All over the country, one word that i heard from Kerala to Kashmir is Adani, Adani, Adani. This name when people asked me about, they wanted to know how come he was successful in every business, how come he never failed, what is the magic…what is this relation,” asked Mr Gandhi.  Further showing a photo of Gautam  Adani with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the same  plane, he said  “This is the relation,” and jocularly mentioned “ earlier Modiji used to  fly in Adani’s air craft and now Adani travels in PM’s plane along with him.”

The Congress leader further said in House that the Agniveer scheme was being imposed on Army. “Retired senior officers said that Agniveer Yojana came from RSS, Home Ministry and not from the Army. They said the Agniveer scheme being coerced on the Army,” he said.

Further he added “How is it that the Agniveer Yojana was mentioned only once in the President’s speech? Unemployment, inflation – there was no word of that in the address. So all the issues that people told me about during the yatra, we didn’t hear in the President’s address,”

Earlier, Lok Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 1:30 pm amid Opposition uproar over certain references made by BJP member C P Joshi allegedly on the abolished practice of ‘sati’. During his speech, Joshi made references to Padmavati, the Queen of Mewar, and said that she self-immolated along with other women to protect their honour from invader Allaudin Khilji. Hearing this, many Opposition members claimed that Joshi glorified the practice of ‘sati’.
