Insurgency ends in Assam! Section 144 imposed in Dima Hasao district after tripartite agreement.

GUWAHATI : There is hope that the insurgency in Assam will end soon. In fact, on Thursday, a historic peace agreement was signed between the central government, the Assam government and the militant organization Dimasa National Liberation Army Dimasa People’s Supreme Council. Under this agreement, militant organizations will leave the path of violence and become part of the democratic system. With this, it is believed that militancy will end in Assam. Section 144 has been imposed in Dima Hasao district today as a precautionary measure to prevent any untoward incident. Under the agreement, more than 168 cadres of the Dimasa National Liberation Army will lay down arms and join the mainstream. Under the agreement, the Dimasa Welfare Council will be formed by the Assam government, which will protect the social, cultural, linguistic, political, economic and educational of the Dimasa people. At the same time, rapid development will be done for the Dimasa people.Under the agreement, a commission will be set up under paragraph 14 of the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution to examine whether some villages of the North Chachar Hills Autonomous Council can be included in the Dimasa Council. Please tell that it is being demanded. Under the agreement, the Centre and the Assam government will take steps to rehabilitate the surrendered cadre. The Centre and the state government will formulate a special development package by giving Rs 500 crore each, which will be spent in the next five years for the welfare of Dimasa people living in NCHAC and other parts of the state. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and some top home ministry officials were present during the signing of the agreement. The agreement between the central government, the Assam government and the Dimasa National Liberation Army was signed in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed happiness over the signing of the peace accord and said it will help in making the North East militancy-free by 2024 and bring peace and prosperity to the North East. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today described the decision of the Dimasa National Liberation Army (DNLA), a tribal militant group active in Assam’s Dima Hasao district, to shun violence and join the mainstream as “very good news” for peace and progress in the Northeast. Responding to a tweet by Shah in this regard, Modi said this is very good news for the progress and peace of the Northeast.
