International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) and International Hospitality Council (IHC) has hosted the prestigious International Hospitality Day (IHD) Award at Novotel HICC Hyderabad on 27th April 2023. The esteemed organization was honoured with this recognition amidst a grand event hosted by Dr Suborno Bose, the Founder and Chief mentor of Indismart Group.
The International Hospitality Day celebrated its annual event to honour and recognize outstanding contributions made by individuals in the hospitality industry who have devoted themselves to exceptional service and creating unforgettable experiences for their guests. This year’s event, themed “Sustainable Hospitality” and Partnership, reflects Sustainable Development Goal number 17 of the United Nations.
The International Hospitality Council, headed by Prof David Foskett, Chairman, and Dr Suborno Bose, Chief Mentor of International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) and CEO and Convener of IHC, founded International Hospitality Day with three main objectives – Celebrate Hospitality, Promote Hospitality, and Educate Hospitality.
The hospitality industry is a vibrant and diverse sector, comprising hotels, restaurants, airlines, and more. It is an industry driven by passion, commitment, and a desire to exceed expectations, and International Hospitality Day celebrates all those who embody these values. The event of global proportions seeks participation from various countries worldwide. The International Hospitality Day 2023 celebrated sustainable hospitality, with various speakers highlighting the importance of the industry adopting practices to help promote sustainable tourism worldwide.

Dr Suborno Bose, congratulated the IHD awardees for their sustained hard work and dedication towards spreading excellence in hospitality industry. In his words “This champions are the face of that true words we all know, – Atithi Deva Bhava.” Later on in the event he also quoted and underlined that “IIHM provides vast opportunities to the students to enhance their skills and expertise within this industry. The future awardees are from this college going student only”
He also emphasized the contribution of IIHM in conducting seminars and workshops as well as collaborating with reputed national and international universities to impart quality education to its students.
On this auspicious occasion, several notable industry leaders including Sri Sandeep Kumar IAS, Chef Arjyo Banerjee (Compass- VC), Chef Chalapati Rao (Simply South), and Mr Dhunji Kavrana (Ex CEO -ITC) graced the event with their presence.
Sandeep Kumar IAS, the Chief Secretary to the Government of Andhra Pradesh, shared his views on the significance of the hospitality industry for the economic growth of the state. He applauded the role of IIHM and IHC in shaping up a new generation of professionals who are well-equipped with the competencies to excel in the hospitality sector.
Chef Arjyo Banerjee, Vice President Culinary of Compass India, commended the IIHM for its innovative approach to education that provides students with a blend of classroom learning and practical experience in the industry. He underlined the importance of such initiatives in creating holistic and industry-ready professionals.
Chef Chalapati Rao, head of Simply South, highlighted the rapid changes brought about by technology and the need for the hospitality industry to keep pace with these changes. He praised IIHM for keeping up with these changes and preparing its students for the dynamic demands of the market.
Mr Dhunji Kavrana, CEO of ITC Hotels, spoke about the values that are integral to the hospitality industry, including empathy, generosity, and excellence. He appreciated the contribution of IIHM in imbibing these values among the students, and commended the institute for producing some of the finest professionals in the industry.
The IHC- IIHM hospitality honours list 2023 is full of 40 restaurants from the food capital of India , Hyderabad .Starting with AMARA Restaurant, The jewel of Nizam, like restaurants to The Roastery Coffee house – Premium café lounge.
On receiving the much-coveted appraise and encore, IIHM Hyderabad Director, Mr Earnest Immanuel, expressed his gratitude towards the industry leaders, students, faculty, and staff, whose hard work and dedication made this achievement possible. He acknowledged that the journey towards excellence in hospitality education has just begun, and IIHM will continue to strive towards its goals with zeal and determination.
