Mumbai: Reinforcing its commitment to preventive healthcare and community awareness, Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre successfully hosted LIVer FEST Season 2, a dedicated liver health awareness initiative that brought together over 250 attendees, including doctors, patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals, and members of the public, at the Hall of Culture, Nehru Centre, Worli.
Designed to address the rising burden of fatty liver disease in India, the event served as a unique platform for education, engagement, and empowerment. Through expert-led discussions, patient testimonials, and interactive sessions, attendees gained practical insights into early diagnosis, disease prevention, and lifestyle modifications that can significantly improve liver health.
The event commenced with an insightful session by Dr. Aabha Nagral, Director – Gastroenterology, Chief Hepatologist & Liver Transplant Physician, Jaslok Hospital, who spoke about the growing prevalence of fatty liver disease, its often-silent progression leading to several other serious life-threatening illnesses. Most importantly, she also cited that it’s reversible with medical expert guided lifestyle corrections supported with data of over 100 patients who were a part of this Fatty Liver Program. The 3-Month Comprehensive Fatty Liver Reversal Program is a unique, patient-centered initiative that brings together leading specialists — including physiotherapists, endocrinologists, nutritionists, psychologists, hepatologists, and general physicians — all under one roof in a seamlessly coordinated manner. Designed to optimize patient time and outcomes, the program ensures that every aspect of care, from physical activity and nutrition to psychological support and specialized liver management, is addressed in an integrated fashion. This holistic approach empowers patients to achieve effective fatty liver reversal through expert-guided interventions delivered in a collaborative environment.
Addressing the gathering, Mr. Vinod Chanrai, Chairman, Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre, and Mr. Jitendra Haryan, CEO, Jaslok Hospital & Research Centre, reaffirmed the hospital’s vision of making preventive healthcare accessible through sustained community engagement and patient education.
One of the most impactful segments of the event was the patient felicitation and experience-sharing session, where individuals shared their journeys of overcoming fatty liver disease through medical guidance, lifestyle changes, and continued support. Their stories resonated deeply with the audience, inspiring many to prioritise their own liver health.
Following the keynote session, Dr. Aabha Nagral moderated a multidisciplinary panel discussion featuring Endocrinologist Dr. Shaival Chandalia; Physiotherapists Dr. Reena Javkar and Dr. Salomi Sequeira, Clinical Nutritionists Ms. Sonal Chandalia, Ms. Safala Mahadik and Ms. Ishita Das; Psychologists Ms. Ritika Aggarwal and Ms. Tanya Raj, along with patient relatives Dr. Anand Bhabhor and Mrs. Renuka Bose. The panel explored the multidisciplinary approach to managing fatty liver disease, discussing topics including obesity, diabetes, nutrition, exercise, mental well-being and long-term liver health. The interactive session also addressed common myths and audience questions, encouraging meaningful dialogue between experts, patients and caregivers.
Adding a fun and engaging element to the event, participants took part in a liver health quiz, healthy eating demonstrations and wellness activities, making complex health information easy to understand and apply in everyday life.
