Srinagar: In the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, Pak Army troops initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing with small arms and heavy mortar shelling along the Line of Control in Kirni, Shahpur and Degwar sectors of Poonch district this morning.
Public Relations Officer of Ministry of Defence Colonel Davinder Anand said that Pak Army troops initiated unprovoked and indiscriminate firing with small arms and thereafter resorted to heavy mortar shelling along the LoC in Kirni, Shahpur and Degwar sectors of Poonch district today at about 0915 hours. The Indian Army troops, gaurding the fence are retaliating befittingly with equal caliber. The exchange of fire continued till reports last came in.
There are no reports of demage to any property and loss of any life from our side so far, the PRO added. More details are awaited. This year 1,798 ceasefie violations have been recorded so far along the LoC and International Border in the different districts of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir
