It is important to mention that the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) is going to hold elections in the coming days. Governor’s rule is in force in the area after the BTC’s term ends.In view of the elections, the police administration has started a campaign against illegal weapons in the four districts of BTC, Kokrajhar, Udalguri, Baksa and Chirang. However, no arrests have been made in this regard. The weapons were buried under the bamboo grooves in the ground. The police has started the investigation. However, it was not known which militant group concealed the weapon. Earlier too, huge amount of arms and ammunition have been recovered in Chirang and Udalguri districts of BTC.On the other hand, based on a specific source input at around 2 am this morning, the Assam Police conducted a search and raid operation at Dhunseri Tea Garden 10 no Basti (Paharpur) under the Majbut police station in Darang district. This operation was the residence of Benjamin Murmu 3 hand made rifles with 3 iron pipes, 1 hand air blower, 3 saws, 1 iron player, 1 iron filler, 1 iron sharpener, 1 iron hammer, 1 hand drilling machine,14 iron pieces have been recovered from his residence.
