Journalist, Educationist, social worker Prafulla Rajguru passes away

Jorhat : Prominent educationist, journalist, social worker, columnist, Prafulla Rajguru passes away due to hip injury at a private hospital in early wee hours in Tuesday , said family sources here today.

 He was 82. Leaves behind his wife Kabita Rajguru, daughter Priyakshi Rajguru among host of relatives and friends.

As the dead news of the social worker spread like wild fire people from all wakes of life rush to his DCB College road resident and paid the last respect to the departed soul. Late Prafulla Rajguru retired as the Head of the Department in English from DCB Girls College in 1997 and after his retirement he joined Amar Asom as executive editor of Jorhat edition where he served till year 2000. He was the founder president of Jorhat Press Club, chairman of Jonaki Sangha Vidhyala management committee for past 20 years till his dead. He authored four books and was members of several organizations like Asom Sahitya Sabha, and remain as adviser to the Jorhat Press Club till his death.

He was a great friend of former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, former Union Minister late Bijoy Krishna Handique, over 50 organization paid last respect in his resident which includes Assam Assembly Speaker Hitendra Nath Goswami, Assam Congress Committee president Ripun Bora, Koliabor MP Gaurav Gogoi, Assam Agricultural University Vice Chancellor Dr. Kamal Malla Bujarbaruah, All Assam Students Union publicity secretary Jul Khound and Jorhat Press Club president Niranjan Mahanta and many others.

His body was taken tp Devi Charan Baruah Girls College where he served and adviser to the management committee, Press Club where all journalist paid floral tribute, Jonaki Sangha Vidhalaya and Assam Sahitya Sabha Central Office before leaving to the Tarajan crematorium where his last rite was performed in presence of huge gathering and the funeral pyre lit by his opnly child Priyakshi Rajguru and Prasanta Rajguru who is editor of Amar Asom Newspaper who rush from Guwahati this morning the nephew of Prafulla Rajguru.

Condolences from all corners including Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Jorhat District Congress Committee, Bar Association, Lawyers Union, etc.
