New Delhi : JS Institute of Design (JSID) welcomed its incoming batch through a three-day Orientation Program held from 29th – 30th  July 2026, introducing students to its industry-led, globally connected approach to design education. The program brought together academic leaders, practising designers, alumni and faculty to help students begin their academic journey with meaningful learning experiences and professional insights.

The orientation highlighted JSID’s longstanding academic collaboration with École Intuit Lab, France. The presence of Clément DeRock, Co-Founder and Co-President, École Intuit Lab, France and Yan Garin, Country Head, École Intuit Lab India, reinforced the institute’s commitment to delivering a globally informed design education that seamlessly integrates international academic perspectives with industry-relevant learning.

Welcoming the students, Prof. Nien Siao, Dean, JS Institute of Design, said:

“The years you spend here are as much about discovering yourself as they are about learning design. Stay curious, build relationships with people from industry and develop a global outlook from day one. Design education is not simply about acquiring skills – it is about finding your own voice and learning how to create meaningful solutions for an interconnected world,”

A key highlight of the program was the introduction of students to accomplished industry professionals who will also mentor them as Visiting Faculty during their academic journey. Prashant Sharma, Director of Design at Keka; Ar. Palak Mittal, Founder and Owner of Desigent Design Studio; and Akhilesh Bhartia, Founder of Immersive Arts Studio, interacted with students, sharing insights into contemporary design practice and the expectations of the creative industry. Their continued engagement in the classroom reflects JSID’s emphasis on enabling students to learn directly from professionals actively shaping the design ecosystem.

Sharing his thoughts, Dr. Pramath Raj Sinha, Co-Founder of JS Institute of Design, a distinguished educator and institution builder with decades of leadership in higher education, Founding Dean of the Indian School of Business (ISB), Founder & Trustee of Ashoka University, said:

“The best design education encourages students to question, experiment and learn through experience. At JSID, we want every learner to explore freely, engage deeply with industry and embrace global perspectives. These years should not only prepare students for a profession but also help them become thoughtful, adaptable and creative individuals who enjoy the process of learning.”

The program also included undergraduate and postgraduate orientations, introductions to academic regulations and student support systems, alumni interactions, collaborative activities and networking sessions. Together, these experiences helped students build meaningful connections with peers, mentors and faculty while gaining a deeper understanding of JSID’s collaborative, industry-integrated learning environment as they embarked on their academic journey.
