As all the roads leading to Union Territory Ladakh are closed, the flight ticket rates rose abnormally, these days. Due to the closure of roads, with no other means to travel from Ladakh to other parts of the country, the people are now facing difficulties due to the high cost of air tickets.

For one hour travel from Leh to Delhi, the airlines are squeezing as high as 25 thousand rupees per ticket. Patients, students and youth appearing exams or the interviews are the most affected due to the high cost of air tickets.

During the summer season, 12 flights daily operate in the Delhi-Leh sector by four airliners. However, despite the demand now only four services are operational from Leh. Since last year, a private airliner shut the operations, while another reduced the number of services to Leh.

Thus there’s a shortage of over 300 seats daily, has led to a higher price.

However, all sections of society have urged the Union Government to curb cartelization by the airlines.

Political parties and tour operators are demanding an increase in the number of services and a check on abnormal rise in flight ticket in the sector.
