Leader of the House Expresses Pride in Unity and Diversity; Sikkim Assembly Celebrates Cultural Heritage as Members Don Traditional Attire

New Delhi : The Sikkim Legislative Assembly witnessed a proud celebration of the state’s rich cultural heritage as the Hon’ble Members reconvened for the Annual Budget Session 2026–27, dressed in traditional attire representing the diverse communities of Sikkim – Lepcha, Bhutia, Nepali.

The occasion reflected the state’s cherished ethos of unity in diversity, with Members showcasing the vibrant traditions, customs, and identities that form the cultural fabric of Sikkim. The traditional attire became a symbol of respect for the state’s heritage and a reminder of the shared values that bring its people together.

Expressing his pride on the occasion, Chief Minister Mr Prem Singh Tamang said that witnessing such a meaningful representation of Sikkim’s diverse cultures within the Assembly was a moment of great honour and joy. He highlighted that the initiative was not only a celebration of traditional identities but also a tribute to the generations who have preserved and nurtured the state’s invaluable cultural legacy.

He emphasised that Sikkim’s strength lies in its diversity and harmony, where different communities coexist with mutual respect and a shared vision for progress. He stated that such expressions of cultural pride reinforce the collective commitment towards preserving traditions while working together for the development and prosperity of the state.

The display of traditional attire during the Budget Session served as a powerful reminder that Sikkim’s heritage remains an integral part of its present and continues to inspire its future.
