Lieutenant Governor inaugurates motorable bridge in Ladakh

Ladakh Lieutenant Governor R. K. Mathur yesterday inaugurated a 60- metre span double lane motorable bridge over river Indus at Choglamsar. After dedicating the bridge to the public, Mr Mathur said that Infrastructure development in Ladakh is on top priority. He also said that the provision of Special Development Package by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to develop infrastructure, education and health sectors on priority in Ladakh.

Speaking on the occasion, Ladakh MP Jamyang Tsering Namgyal listed various infrastructure projects, especially the roads and bridges to connect various parts of the region with Leh and Kargil. Leh Hill Council Chief Executive Councilor Gyal P Wangyal, Executive Councilors and Sub-Area GOC officials were present on the occasion.

The bridge has been completed at an estimated cost of 8.21 crore rupees under Central Road Fund. The bridge connects over five major villages with Leh town.
