Kokrajhar: The Lower Assam NGO Forum (LANF), a conglomeration of civil society organisations, and concern citizens observed a silent protest at Bodofa Children Park in Kokrajhar on Monday expressing solidarity with victims of violence and protesting against outrageous assault on women in Manipur. They also demanded establishment of peace in Manipur.
Representatives of about fifteen non-governmental organisations under the initiative of Lower Assam NGO Forum participated in the protest with banners, posters and placards in their hands.
The Forum said that it was deeply concerned about the ongoing situation in Manipur, which has been marred by an ethnic clash between Meities and Kukis since May 3.
They appealed to the Prime Minister of the country as well as the Chief Minister of Manipur to restore peace in the State, secure safety and security and women.
