Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray today tendered his resignation after the Supreme Court refused to give a stay on the floor test that was to take place tomorrow. With the resignation of the chief minister, the Maha Vikas Aghadi which was lacking the numbers in the legislative assembly has eventually collapsed.

Addressing the people of the state through Facebook Live, Mr. Thackeray said he also resigns from the Legislative Council of which he is a member. Taking a jibe at the rebels like Eknath Shinde and Gulabrao Patil, Mr. Thackeray said that those who were doing menial jobs rose to ranks in the party and were made big.

Quoting Ashok Chavan, he said that the Congress leader was of the view that if needed his party would walk out and give support from outside but persuade the rebel MLAs. He said he accepts the judgment of the Supreme Court. Thackeray also thanked NCP chief Sharad Pawar and Congress leader Sonia Gandhi.
