Kochi: Manavatty, the world’s first commercially produced Indian Arrack, produced by UK Malayali entrepreneur John Xavier has secured two of the global spirits industry’s most esteemed awards. The brand bagged a Bronze Medal at the London Spirits Competition 2025, an event organized by the Beverage Trade Network. In addition, Manavatty was honored with the Spirit Bronze 2025 title at the prestigious IWSC (International Wine and Spirit Competition) Annual Awards Ceremony.

Crafted by London Baron Ltd, a UK-based company by John who hails from Kadavanthra, Kochi, the liquor brand Manavatty is distinguished by its purity. It is produced with no preservatives, no added colors, and is certified as zero carb, fat, and sugar. The traditionally prepared spirit, is characterized by 44 per cent alcohol content and is prepared using the centuries-old techniques of fermentation and distillation. The testing was conducted by Campden BRI, London,  a leader in global food and drink science and research and a testing agency.

Rather than the blind tasting sessions, these competitions are highly regarded for their rigorous judging processes, with spirits evaluated by panels of industry experts. Quality, Value, Packaging, marketability and how well the brand’s overall presentation aligns with its price point are the key judging criteria.

“Our commitment to preserving the essence of tradition has led to this dual win. We are dedicated to creating spirits that bar managers and mixologists genuinely want to use, and, crucially, spirits that drinkers truly enjoy choosing and consuming,” said John Xavier, Director of London Baron Ltd.

Manavatty is available in all Gray Mackenzie & Partners stores in the Gulf and CIAL Cochin Duty Free Shop.
