Mangaldai MP Dilip Saikia celebrated Rongali Bihu through free Covid vaccination to senior citizens

Mangaldai : Nearly fifty doses (both first and second ) of Covid 19 vaccines were administered to targeted local senior citizens and BJP workers above forty five years in a special vaccination session organized by Mangaldai Parliamentarian Dilip Saikia with support from the district health department here at his rented residence on April 15 , the first day of Assamese month ‘Bohag ’ .

Even though the normal schedule of four days “Tika Utsav” as called by Prime Minister Modi had ended on April 14 , this special session of vaccination was also in response to the appeal made by Modi . “ This ‘Tika Utsav’ is conducted in response to the call from Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji and thus showing respect to our elders for a safe life while celebrating our Rongali Bihu festival. We have already defeated the first wave of Covid 19 and we will be able to defeat its second wave too by being timely vaccinated and also following the basic health protocols of the pandemic as observed by our Prime Minister ”, said Parliamentarian Saikia in his brief address before launching of the daylong session .

Earlier MP Saikia and other BJP office bearers greeted the COVID warrior health workers including Covid vaccination , district nodal officer Dr NK Beria and all the beneficiary senior citizens each with a traditional Assamese ‘Bihuwan’ as a mark of respect . Rajya Sabha MP Biswajit Daimari and Mangaldai Legislator Gurujyoti Das were also present on the occasion.
