Meeting for examination and recommendation of schemes under SDRF held in Chirang

Kajalgaon, Assam: A meeting for examination and recommendation of the proposals prepared by the line departments under SDRF, 2020- 21 post floods in Chirang district was held on Friday at the Deputy Commissioner’s office conference hall.

The meeting chaired by Chirang Deputy Commissioner  Gautam Talukdar, who is also the Chairman of District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Chirang was attended by Minister for Welfare of Plains Tribe and Backward Classes and Tourism Chandan Brahma.

Addressing the meeting, the minister pointed out the vulnerable areas, where flood and erosion had been witnessed every year in the district. He asked the officers of the line departments for preparing plan and estimates base on the importance of vulnerability assessment conducted by them for permanent solution to the flood and erosion problems.

Deputy Commissioner Gautam Talukdar urged the officers present to prepare the list of schemes on priority basis and submit it immediately to his office for onward submission to the government by September 30, 2020 at his recommendation as chairman of the DDMA, Chirang. Talukdar also apprised that so far PWD has submitted 124, Water Resources 62, Irrigation 6, Education 4, Soil Conservation12 draft list of schemes under SDRF from their sides. All these schemes were thoroughly examined for recommendation in the presence of Minister Chandan Brahma in the meeting.

The meeting was also attended by Superintendent of Police Sudhakar Singh, Addl. Deputy Commissioners Biswajit Goswami, Karmadev Brahma among other.
