Meeting on implementation of ‘Orunodoi’ scheme held in Kokrajhar

Kokrajhar: A meeting to discuss the implementation of the Assam government’s flagship Orunodoi scheme in Kokrajhar district was held at the deputy commissioner (DC) conference hall, Kokrajhar today.

Kokrajhar East MLA and Assam Social Welfare Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, Kokrajhar West MLA Rabiram Narzary and Gossaigaon MLA Majendra Narzary were present in the meeting which was chaired by Kokrajhar DC Bhaskar Phukan. Project Director District Rural Development Agency (DRDA) Kokrajhar Pranjit Wary, Block Development Officers (BDO) and other officials of the district administration were also present in the meeting. The meeting discussed the proper implementation of the scheme and it reaches the genuine needy persons in the district.

 In her speech, minister Pramila Rani Brahma said Orunodoi scheme is an ambitious scheme of the Assam government which is endeavour to empower women of the state and to provide financial support to the economically vulnerable families.  She  requested the officials to ensure that benefits reach the maximum number of poor people.

The scheme will cover 15,000 families from each assembly constituency. Under the scheme, over 19 lakh poor households in the state will get Rs. 830 each per month from October 2 onwards. To ensure proper and complete use of the availed amount, the money will be credited to the bank account of a woman family member.

The applicants should be a permanent and current resident of Assam to avail the benefits. The composite income of the applicant should be less than Rs. 2 lakh per annum.
