Kokrajhar : A ‘Mega Health Mela and Awareness meeting on Education’ was organized by The People’s Aid in collaboration with NHM, Kokrajhar at Laimuti in remote Kokrajhar district.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Jahangir Ahmed, Joint Director of BTC Health Services.
Altogether 1412 patients hailing from 24 villages of Laimuti area attended and avail the free health check up. Free medicines were also distributed among the needy.
The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) General Secretary Lawrence Islary graced the programne as Chief Guest and delivered speech on fundamental rights on Health, Education and other basic human needs.
Dr. Ushad Ullah, Additional CMNHO gave his valuable speech on health issues faced by rural population and also makes aware the people on various health schemes and services by the government. Dr. Diganta Boro, ONG, Dr. Sukleswar Boro, Pediatric, Dr. P Pathar, Dentist, Dr. Bimal Medhi, ENT, Dr Suchma Brahma, Eye specialist and Dr Mihir Kr. Basumatary, Former Joint Director of BTC Health Services attended the health mela and provided health checkup.
The programme was also attended by President of The People’s Aid Nava Kumar Basumatary, its adviser Mr. Maneswar Daimary, Bhabesh Basumatary and Mahar Swrang Borgoyary among others. District Programme Manager, NHM Kokrajhar Uttam Brahma gave the inaugural speech.
