Meghalaya miner rescue operations now be 24-hours

In Meghalaya, the ongoing rescue operations at Ksan, East Jaintia Hills will now be 24-hours, starting Tuesday night, informed the Meghalaya Disaster Management Minister, Kyrmen Shylla.

Talking to newsmen, Shylla said that the army has already set camp to provide all the logistics support and since they are there, now the operations will be carried out round the clock.

He also informed that five pumps are working constantly to de-water the main market me and the adjoining ones and the possibility to drill nearby areas is also being looked upon. 

He said that constant efforts are on even as the rescuers are faced with tremendous hardship and obstacles while trying to retrieve the second body.

Meanwhile, Defence PRO, Wing Commander Ratnakar Singh on informed that a team of the army has already set base in Ksan, East Jaintia Hills to provide all administrative and logistics support in expediting the rescue operations of the trapped miners.

Ratnakar said that they are primarily to assist the navy in the rescue operations as the distance from the mine tragedy and the place of the stay of the rescuers is far. 
He also said that since the rescuers have to stay at the spot for the rescue works to go on round the clock the army will help them achieve that. 
A team of thirty to thirty-five army men have set base and have started assisting the rescue workers.
