Met Department predicts heavy rainfall over East and Northeastern states for five days

New Delhi: Maharashtra’s Raigad district witnessed heavy showers in 24 hours, with five tehsils recording more than 200 mm of rainfall. Uran, Alibag, Pen, Panvel and Murud saw more than 200 mm of rain, while Roha recorded the lowest 140.6 mm in 24 hours. In Mumbai, incessant rains over the past few days raised the water stock in seven lakes providing potable water to Mumbai as it reached 68 percent till now. Of these seven lakes, four have overflowed so far.

Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathwada received heavy rainfall in some places, while Vidarbha received heavy rain at isolated places. The India Meteorological Department has predicted that the intensity of rain will continue during the next few days. As informed by the State Disaster Relief Unit, one person each died in Kolhapur, Yavatmal, Nagpur and Sindhudurg district in the last 24 hours. A total of 25 relief camps have been set up for more than 26 thousand citizens affected by rain. During this monsoon, 126 animals have died, 2 houses have been completely damaged and 464 houses have been partially damaged.
