More than 2300 Muslim women from India will go on Hai without male companion this year, Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi .

After inaugurating New Haj Division in New Delhi today the Minister said, on the directions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his Ministry has made arrangements to send these women on Haj without lottery system.

Mr Naqvi said, reduction in GST from 18 per cent to 5 per cent on Haj pilgrimage will not only ensure saving of around 113 crore by pilgrims but also ensure a significant decrease in airfare from various embarkation points.

He added, above 267000 applications had been received for Haj this year out of which over 1 lakh 64 thousand were through online mode making the application process more transparent.
