Developed through close collaboration with Qualcomm Technologies and DXOMARK, the motorola signature 27 combines the AI imaging and computational photography capabilities of the Snapdragon® 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 platform with extensive image quality optimisation informed by DXOMARK’s expertise. Motorola engineers worked alongside Qualcomm imaging specialists to develop custom algorithms that enhance dynamic range, video quality and overall image processing performance, while leveraging DXOMARK’s testing tools and methodologies to validate and refine the camera experience.
A camera system designed for every moment
The motorola signature 27 features a versatile four-camera system comprising a 50MP Sony LYTIA™ L910 main camera, a 200MP periscope telephoto lens, a 50MP ultrawide camera4 and a 50MP autofocus front camera. Together, these cameras are designed to deliver exceptional image quality across a wide range of lighting conditions and shooting scenarios.
According to DXOMARK, the device delivers an impressive all-round camera experience, combining natural-looking photography, versatile zoom capabilities and outstanding video performance. Across bright outdoor scenes, challenging indoor environments and nighttime conditions, it captures well-balanced, detailed and visually appealing results.
Its photography strengths are particularly evident in everyday shots, with natural brightness, balanced colours and clear details that preserve the authentic look of each scene. Portraits offer natural skin tones, well-defined facial features and reliable focus, even in group shots with subjects positioned at different distances. The 3x telephoto camera delivers detailed zoom shots at medium distances, making it particularly useful for portraits.
Low-light photography is another strength, producing well-exposed images with pleasant colours and minimal visible noise. Video performance is equally compelling, with smooth footage, stable exposure, consistent colours and dependable autofocus, even when transitioning between different environments.
“What stands out on the motorola signature 27 is how it adapts for users. Portraits are a particular strength, with processing that keeps secondary subjects sharp in most situations. Zoom holds up well from 3x to 6x, and a sensor-mode switch around 6x helps recover texture as you go further. In video performance, exposure stays stable and autofocus reliable as the environment changes, which creates smooth videos that users can enjoy sharing,” said Olympe Corblet, Image Quality Expert at DXOMARK.
Advanced camera hardware and imaging innovation
At the core of the motorola signature 27 is the 50MP Sony LYTIA™ L910 main camera, featuring Sony’s first LOFIC technology. By capturing and processing more light at the hardware level, the sensor delivers up to 6x better6 HDR in video recordings, preserving details in bright highlights and deep shadows. Multispectral technology further helps the sensor estimate lighting conditions and collect more colour data, supporting improved colour accuracy and shadow preservation.
The 200MP periscope telephoto lens features Motorola’s highest and largest sensor and pixel size ever in a telephoto sensor, enabling detailed long-distance photography. With up to 100x Super Zoom Pro, users can capture distant subjects while preserving natural colour, clarity and detail.
The 3x periscope telephoto lens also provides a versatile, portrait-friendly focal length for more flattering, naturally proportioned portraits. Ultra Resolution mode offers added flexibility for editing, reframing and cropping in full 200MP resolution. The sensor additionally enables a 135mm lens option in portrait mode, helping users achieve a more flattering bokeh effect while maintaining natural facial proportions and detail.
The smartphone also introduces the world’s first dedicated EVS Action Sensor5 on a smartphone. By detecting movement at the hardware level and working with Motorola’s Action Shot setting, the sensor helps capture fast-moving subjects with greater sharpness, richer detail and improved low-light performance. Users can also enable burst shot by long-pressing, helping them capture the perfect moment without missing the action.
Rounding out the camera system, the 50MP ultrawide camera4 features a 122-degree field of view, making it suitable for expansive landscapes, architecture and group shots. Its built-in macro capabilities capture details from as close as 2.5cm. The 50MP front camera with autofocus delivers crisp, vibrant selfies and supports 4K video recording.
Enhanced video and intelligent imaging experiences
The motorola signature 27 delivers significant video improvements through Motorola’s Video Enhancement Engine, Dolby Vision® recording, LOFIC HDR technology, Qualcomm Electronic Image Stabilization and 3.5° OIS hardware. Together, these technologies enhance dynamic range, detail and stability, helping users capture smoother, more lifelike footage across different scenes and lighting conditions.
Motorola’s Video Enhancement Engine uses real-time intelligence to optimise colour, exposure, noise reduction and detail as each frame is captured. Working automatically in the background, it adapts to changing scenes and lighting conditions, making it easier to capture high-quality video through a simple point-and-shoot experience.
The system delivers natural, true-to-life colours across a range of environments, from vibrant sunsets to dimly lit evening scenes. In low light, it enhances detail and improves video noise control while preserving the atmosphere of the moment. It also performs in challenging settings such as concerts, intelligently balancing bright stage lights, shifting colours and high-contrast scenes.
For creators, Dolby Vision® video recording delivers richer colour, sharper contrast and greater visual depth. The smartphone supports 4K Dolby Vision video capture at up to 60fps across all rear cameras, along with 8K at 60fps on the main and telephoto cameras, giving users greater flexibility to shoot, edit and share content directly from their device.
Beyond its hardware, the motorola signature 27 combines intelligent imaging technology and powerful camera software to simplify the photography and videography experience. Its Photo and Video Enhancement Engines analyse scenes in real time to optimise colour, detail, exposure and overall image quality, helping users capture photos and videos that feel natural and true to life.
AI-powered features further enhance the camera experience. Super Zoom Pro uses generative AI to enhance clarity and natural-looking colour at extreme zoom ranges from 20x to 100x, while Action Shot recognises subject movement and adjusts shutter speed before capture for sharper results. Voice Command enables hands-free capture, Signature Style personalises colour tuning based on editing preferences, and Group Shot helps ensure everyone looks their best in group photos.
The camera system also supports Ultra HDR to preserve richer highlights, deeper shadows and more vibrant colours. Social media optimisation helps retain these details from capture to post, whether content is created in the camera app or directly within social media applications. For portrait photography, an enhanced Portrait Mode offers multiple focal lengths, adjustable blur intensity and Dynamic Bokeh technology that adapts background blur based on subject distance for a more natural, professional-camera look.
With its combination of advanced imaging hardware, intelligent camera software and powerful performance, the motorola signature 27 brings together Motorola’s most advanced flagship smartphone experience to date. The DXOMARK recognition reinforces Motorola’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of smartphone photography and delivering meaningful innovations that help users capture and share their moments with greater confidence.
