MP floods: Central team to visit Raisen, Rajgarh & Agar-Malwa districts

In Madhya Pradesh, a central team led by Sandeep Ponderik Joint Secretary, National Disaster Management Authority will visit Raisen, Rajgarh and Agar-Malwa districts today. The team includes officials from the Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Water Resources, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Power.

The central team visited Vidisha and Mandsaur districts yesterday and took stock of the situation. Team also held discussions with local officials and flood affected people.

On the other hand, information has given to the central team by the state government that in 36 out of 52 districts of the state, the damage was very high. According to the official release, the Kharif crop of  9 thousand 600 crore rupees has been damaged due to floods. Houses have also suffered a loss of about 540 crore rupees. The central team has been informed that the state has so far incurred a total loss of 11 thousand 906 crore rupees. 225 people died due to floods and lightning in the state so far.

Meanwhile, the water level of the Chambal and Sindh rivers has started coming out of the submerged villages gradually. Now a five-member team is being formed for all affected villages to carry out survey work of the damage caused by the floods. Survey teams will go door-to-door and compile information about the damage .On the other hand, BJP has announced demonstration across the state today demanding compensation to the flood affected people and especially to the farmers.
