SpeakX, a leading AI-powered English speaking app that helps users build communication confidence, today announced that global cricketing icon and former Indian captain MS Dhoni has invested in the company. The app uses personalised, practical learning driven by AI to move beyond conventional lessons toward real-world communication. Dhoni’s investment signals his belief in a product that can make English communication more accessible and empowering for millions of Indians.
As India’s aspirations expand beyond major metros, spoken English has become a meaningful part of that growth — opening doors to better jobs, business opportunities, travel and study abroad. It is against this backdrop that Dhoni chose to invest in SpeakX, which focuses on boosting users’ confidence through contextual, adaptive learning.
Dhoni’s involvement extends beyond his financial stake. He is integrated directly into the learner experience, appearing via video to welcome users, motivate them and celebrate key milestones throughout their journey.
Launched in 2024, SpeakX is built on the philosophy of learning through simulated real-world situations, helping users practise, learn and grow organically. The platform has already reached more than 1 crore learners, with 10 lakh subscribers joining in the last six months. Data shows that 80% of active learners use English in more than 90% of their platform interactions, marking a shift from passive learning to active communication.
Arpit Mittal, CEO & Founder of SpeakX, said:
“India’s next generation is ambitious, but opportunity shouldn’t depend on where you were born or what language you grew up speaking. We built SpeakX to close that gap by making confident communication personalised, practical and affordable through AI. Having someone like MS Dhoni, who deeply believes in the problem we’re solving, invest in SpeakX is a powerful validation of that vision. As more Indians from smaller towns and cities step into new opportunities, we aim to give them the confidence to take that next step.”
MS Dhoni, Indian cricketer and investor in SpeakX, added:
“For many Indians, learning English isn’t just about studying a subject — it’s about gaining confidence in situations that can change their lives. For those from smaller towns and first-generation learner families, that confidence can be a real step toward social and economic mobility. SpeakX aligns strongly with this vision. It has the potential to make the learning experience more accessible, relevant and personal, and I’m excited to partner with them as they build for India’s next generation.”
Dhoni’s investment arrives at an important juncture for the company. As aspirations spread beyond metro centres, SpeakX plans to strengthen its accessibility across 16+ languages and address a wider range of learning needs — tailored to different professions, backgrounds and comfort levels.
