Kolkata : The National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes & Narcotics (NACIN), Zonal Campus, Kolkata conducted a Drug Awareness Outreach Programme at Heritage Institute of Technology (HITK), Kolkata on July 21, 2026, with the active participation of 260 students.
The awareness programme aimed to educate young minds about the dangers of substance abuse and encourage them to make informed and responsible life choices. The interactive session covered the harmful physical, psychological and social consequences of drug addiction, the legal provisions and penalties under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, strategies to resist peer pressure, and the importance of adopting a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
The resource persons from NACIN engaged students through informative discussions and interactive activities, encouraging them to ask questions and understand the long-term impact of substance abuse on individuals, families and society. The session also highlighted the crucial role of youth in creating awareness and fostering a culture of prevention.
As a mark of their commitment towards a healthier and safer society, all participating students took a Drug-Free Pledge, reaffirming their resolve to stay away from drugs and to contribute towards building a drug-free future.
