Nation pays homage to Dr B R Ambedkar on his 136th birth anniversary

The nation pays homage to the Chief Architect of Indian Constitution, Dr B. R. Ambedkar, on his 136th birth anniversary today. Several functions have been organised throughout the country to mark the occasion. In New Delhi, a function has been organised at Parliament House Complex this morning to pay tributes to Dr B. R. Ambedkar. More from our correspondent 

Born on 14th April 1891 in Madhya Pradesh, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar dedicated his life to the fight against social discrimination and worked tirelessly to secure equal rights for women, laborers, and marginalized communities. His vision laid the foundation for a just and inclusive society, as reflected in the Constitution of India, which he was instrumental in drafting.

Dr Ambedkar’s multifaceted contributions from economic policy and infrastructure to constitutional law cemented his legacy as a nation-builder, committed to fostering a just and equitable India. Dr B. R. Ambedkar was posthumously honoured with Bharat Ratna in the year 1990. This day holds great significance in honouring his remarkable contributions, particularly in the fields of social justice, equality, and the drafting of the Indian Constitution. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on his birth anniversary. In a social media post, Mr Modi said that the efforts of Babasaheb Ambedkar towards nation-building are deeply motivating. The Prime Minister noted that his life and work continue to inspire generations to build a just and progressive society. He further added that the personality and work of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar will continue to be a source of inspiration for nation-building.

Home Minister Amit Shah extended salutations to the pioneer of social justice, the architect of the Constitution, Babasahib Bhimrao Ambedkar, on his birth anniversary. In a social media post, Amit Shah said that Dr Ambedkar laid the strong foundation of India’s democracy by giving a Constitution that grants equal rights and opportunities to every class.

He noted that Dr Ambedkar staunchly opposed Article 370 for the sake of the country’s integrity. Mr Shah further added that Babasahib gave the mantra to society to become educated and stay organized and taught everyone through his life that when the resolve is for national service and the welfare of the people, every obstacle becomes small.
