National Blood Donation Day observed in Assam’s Darrang District

Mangaldai :  ” Let’s voluntarily donate blood and contribute to the fight against CORONA’-  with this theme of the year National Voluntary Blood Donation Day was observed  on Thursday along with the rest of the country. In this connection Mangaldai blood bank authority organised an awareness rally across the main thoroughfares of Mangaldai town where various  stake holder participants including health officials and staff, NGO members and students of GNM training school displayed placards, banners having slogans ‘Donate blood save life’, ‘ Donate blood, you will feel very happy’ etc. This was followed by a brief meeting at the blood bank premises where office bearers of several local NGOs including Crystal Vision, Marowari Yuva Manch, Unity and Erado were offered felicitation each with an appreciation letter and gamosa as mark of recognition for their support towards blood donation. Speaking on the occasion as the appointed speaker Dr Nirmal Kr Beria, SDM&HO, Darrang and a renowned organiser of blood donation of the State highlighted the significance of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day and the great role of the donors in enriching the blood banks of the hospitals.

Earlier while explaining the objectives Dr Daud Ali, blood bank in charge pointed out how they are facing problems in blood collection during this COVID period without organising outreach blood donation camp. Chief Medical & Health Officer, Dr Jadumani Kataki, Superintendent of Mangaldai Civil Hospital, Dr Gopinath Bora his deputy Dr Munindra Medhi and Secretary, AMSA, Mangaldai chapter also spoke on the occasion.
