From Our Correspondent

Thiruvalla: In a major push to tackle one of India’s fastest-growing health crises, Believers Hospital Thiruvalla will host the National Conclave on Cardio-Kidney-Metabolic (CKM) Health from 25 to 27 September 2026 at the Believers Convention Centre.

The three-day national event, themed “Uniting Prevention and Reversal Strategies for Cardio-Kidney-Metabolic Syndrome”, seeks to move the national conversation from siloed treatment of diabetes, hypertension, obesity, chronic kidney disease (CKD) and cardiovascular disease to an integrated, prevention-first approach.

Organised by the Department of Nephrology and Department of Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics at Believers Hospital Thiruvalla, in partnership with the National Resource Centre for Non-Communicable Diseases (NRC-NCD), the conclave has drawn support from the World NCD Federation, Kerala Association of Nephrology, Central Travancore Nephrology Club and the Academy of Social and Preventive Dietology.

Why CKM Health Matters Now

Science increasingly shows that what were once treated as separate conditions are in fact interconnected manifestations of the same underlying metabolic dysfunction. Unhealthy food environments, physical inactivity, lifestyle transitions and social determinants are driving a surge in CKM syndrome across India. The conclave aims to translate this understanding into practical, scalable and policy-driven solutions.

Pre-Conference Workshops – 25 September 2026

The event opens with three focused pre-conference workshops:

  • CKM Master Workshop 2026 – “50 Real-Life Cases That Will Change Your Practice” featuring interactive case-based learning led by Dr E.T Arun Thomas and faculty including Dr Rajesh Joseph, Dr Aleena Rose Joy, Dr Sneha Anna Joy and Dr Jyothipriya J.
  • Dietary Approaches to Combat CKM – Course Director Dr Jyothi S Krishnan, covering protein prescription, evidence-based diets (Mediterranean, DASH, low-FODMAP, gluten-free), diabetes remission strategies and practical nutrition for GLP-1 users.
  • Cycling for Health & Wellness – Hands-on sessions on exercise integration, safety, equipment, policy promotion and bicycle self-servicing, directed by Dr Deepak Aravind, Ms Rosy Marcel and Mr Jomon Mathew.

One workshop of choice is included as a complimentary benefit with conference registration.
