Bhopal: The Archdiocese of Bhopal observed World Nature Conservation Day here today.  Earth is experiencing a twin crisis of climate change and biodiversity loss, mainly caused by human activities, presenting tremendous risks to our health, the global economy, and the natural world.

On the occasion of World Nature Conservation Day Archbishop  A.A.S.Durairaj said ” Mother Nature has sufficient resources for human needs. However, the human race has been constantly exploiting her to fulfil its greed. Non-eco friendly human activities have the potential to collapse an entire ecosystem. This can have a domino effect on other interrelated ecosystems. Therefore, human-generated environmental hazards have not only put the survival of the human race at risk but also of millions of other species that share the planet with us, he said.

Conservation and preservation are fairly similar terms, yet while they both aim to safeguard the environment, they go about it in different ways. Conservation aims to allow humans to utilize nature in a sustainable way, such as for hunting, logging, or mining, whereas preservation aims to safeguard nature from human use. Protecting and conserving our natural resources is integral to our very existence and let’s honour that sentiment on World Nature Conservation Day by acknowledging its importance and how we can contribute towards nature’s preservation” he added.

Fr Maria Stephen, PRO, Archdiocese of Bhopal said ” For the well being of the present as well as future generations, we all must act as responsible and accountable human beings by protecting and conserving our nature. Nature Conservation plays a vital role for the improvement and better living conditions and establishes a better society for the development of human beings as well as animals, creatures in nature “. he added.
