GUWAHATI: The Assam government on Tuesday issued a fresh standard operating procedure (SOP) imposing total lockdown in Golaghat and Lakhimpur districts while withdrawing total containment order from Jorhat, Biswanath, and Sonitpur districts.
The new SOP will remain in force till July 31.
“The situation in the state has been reviewed and it has been observed that though few districts have shown improvement in the positivity rate, it is still high in Golaghat and Lakhimpur,” Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) said in a fresh notification here.
Three districts including Jorhat, Sonitpur and Biswanath have shown improvement after facing total containment for over a week.
However, the state government has made no change in the curfew timings for the capital city Guwahati in the fresh SOP.
The Kamrup (M) has been under the districts showing improvement in positivity case load.
The curfew in the city will remain from 5 pm till 5 am and shops, commercial establishments, offices can remain open till 4 pm in the evening.
Along with Kamrup (M), the other districts which fall under the category are: Dhubri, South Salmara, Majuli, Bongaigaon, Chirang, Udalguri, West Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao, Charaideo, Hailakandi, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Kokrajhar, Barpeta, Nalbari, Baksa, Bajali, Kamrup, Darang, Nagaon, Hojai, Tinsukia, Dhemaji, Cachar, Karimganj, and Karbi Anglong.
All work places, business/commercial establishments, shops, dealing with groceries, fruits, and vegetables, dairy and milk booths, animal fodder, restaurants, dhaba, will be open till 4 pm in these districts.
All Public transport authorities shall enforce Covid-19 appropriate behaviour and seating inside the vehicles, carriers, containers etc.
Other districts showing moderate positivity rate, the curfew has been clamped from 2 pm till 5 am. The districts are: Goalpara, Morigaon, Jorhat, Sonitpur and Biswanath.
Meanwhile, all inter-district passenger transport services and movement of people to and from other districts shall remain suspended.
