New Year Is Brotherhood, Self-Reliance: AGP

Guwahati: On the eve of the New Year, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) president Atul Bora said that the coming new year should be the year of brotherhood and self-reliance. Bora said that self-reliance has to be taken as the main agenda for the development and progress of the state and to make it economically self-reliant. The time has come to move forward unitedly to create an atmosphere of development and peace in the state through unity and brotherhood among all sections of people. The party will prepare for the upcoming panchayat and Lok Sabha elections in the new year with massive membership and organisational programmes.

 Stating that the party has welcomed the decision to redecorate the constituency, Bora said the party will continue to fulfill its national responsibility towards the people of Assam as before. Party working president and minister Keshav Mahanta was also present on the occasion and sought the cooperation of the people of Assam in the new year in taking the state forward in all directions. Senior leaders PhaniBhusan Chowdhury, General Secretary Birendra Prasad Baishya, Pravin Hazarika, Bhupen Roy, Manoj Saikia, Nurul Hussain, Hiranya Kumar Konwar, Bimalendu Sinha, Vice President Dilip Patgiri, Sunil Deka, Sunil Rajkonwar, Akram Hussain, Bishnu Das along with Publicity Secretary Dr. Tapan Das and Brother-sister Organization were present on the occasion. Earlier, the party’s extended central executive meeting was also held. In the executive meeting, the amendment of the party’s constitution, the re-determination of constituencies, party organisations, Lok Sabha and panchayat elections were discussed in detail.
