India :  Nothing, the London-based consumer technology company today announces the winners of its first $40,000 Club Nothing Fund to host a series of music events around the world.

Following a judging process which included a panel of individuals working in music, nightlife and the creative industries, Signal by New Delhi Community Radio, Black Bass Collective, Oroko Radio and Whorechata were confirmed as winners of the inaugural Club Nothing Fund. For the awards, each winner had to demonstrate how its event will truly bring together communities – from a presentation on why its event is important to music culture, details about the community it is building, to how it plans to use the $10,000 to bring its music event to life.

The winners are:

●          Signal by New Delhi Community Radio – Signal by New Delhi Community Radio (NDCR) was founded by Nida Merchant. NDCR is an online community radio platform that champions underground talent through radio broadcasts, listening sessions and collaborative programming. With this funding NDCR will launch Signal, a new immersive event that brings together music, fashion, art and culture through a block party style market takeover in Delhi, using collaborative curation with other local independent radio stations from across India.

●          Black Bass Collective – Black Bass Collective is a US-based group with a mission to create worlds and experiences inspired and informed by iconic black art, while uplifting small black artists. The Blood Ball, first inspired by the iconic Blade (1998) blood rave scene, has evolved into an homage to the campy yet elegant ballrooms of the 90s, edgy afro futuristic black vampire, and soft antebellum imagery, all from films such as Blade, Blacula, Ganja and Hess. With this funding Black Bass Collective will host a Blood Ball in a warehouse in Downtown LA, featuring sets from LSDXOXO, Shekdash and more.

●          Oroko Radio – Oroko Radio is a not-for-profit community organisation, creating a platform for creative communities in Africa and the Diaspora, that connects, inspires and empowers local, national and international artists through conversation and collaboration. It aims to develop a community that further enriches the global cultural landscape, nurtures relationships with like-minded projects across the globe, accelerates careers of artists, and provides a globally recognised platform for voices to be heard. It also showcases emerging talent outside of the mainstream. It currently has over 300 radio residents spanning 50 countries. With this funding Oroko Radio will host a stage takeover at Nyege Nyege festival on the banks of the river Nile in Uganda this November.

●          Whorechata – Whorechata is a New York City-based collective that centers queer and trans Latinx communities while championing the next generation of Latin club music. It serves as a cultural bridge between underground artists in NYC and cities across Latin America, including Mexico City, Bogotá, and São Paulo, creating space for emerging DJs, producers, and creatives to connect across borders. Their parties challenge conventional ideas of how Latin music, identity, and nightlife spaces can look and sound. With this funding Whorechata will host its biggest event yet this December.

The winners of the Club Nothing Fund come as Nothing continues to double down on music entertainment, supporting grassroots music culture and investing in the next generation of creatives. Earlier this year, Nothing announced Charli XCX as its first global brand ambassador and investor. In September, it announced V of pop royalty BTS as its latest global brand ambassador for the launch of its flagship audio product, Headphone (1) Pro.

Charlie Smith, Chief Brand Officer, said: “We asked people from around the world to share their craziest ideas with us and that’s exactly what we received. We have been so inspired reading the applications and know this fund will help create spaces for emerging creatives, support grassroots music culture and community events around the world. Our goal for this fund has always been to invest in the people who inspire us, not simply borrowing from them – we want to continue supporting rebellious creatives – these are the risk takers and innovators that are completely transforming their genres. That’s what the Club Nothing Fund is about.”

In addition to the fund, all winners will receive x10 pairs of Nothing’s pink & yellow earbuds, Ear (3a). DJs for each party will also receive Nothing’s latest flagship audio product, Headphone (1) Pro and Nothing will work with each collective to create limited edition co-branded merchandise.

As Club Nothing expands globally, it will continue to create unforgettable music experiences, support emerging talent and champion the communities pushing nightlife forward.
