Nottingham Trent University Recognises Indian Scholarship recipients at Celebration Events

Nottingham Trent University (NTU) recently hosted a series of on-campus scholarship events, marking the successes of all international students who have been awarded an NTU scholarship for the current academic year, and welcoming them into the NTU community.

Held across two evenings at NTU’s City Campus in Nottingham, the events were an opportunity to bring together students who were awarded scholarships for the September 2025 and January 2026 intakes. 1,596 scholarships were awarded to this cohort, of which 524 were awarded to Indian students.

The celebrations come at a time when students heading overseas are looking beyond academic offering and paying closer attention to the wider university experience, including how welcomed and supported they feel from the start of their journey.

At NTU, the evenings were designed to mark academic achievement while also helping students settle into campus life. Scholarship recipients received their certificates from academics within their respective schools, giving them an opportunity to connect directly with faculty members and peers. The celebrations also included food and refreshments, a live performance by the NTU Pop Choir, and a range of games and activities, creating an atmosphere that was both celebratory and welcoming.

The students recognised at the events were recipients of merit-based scholarships (NTU Excellence Awards and the India Prestigious University Award) across undergraduate and postgraduate

programmes, reflecting the university’s focus on rewarding academic excellence and supporting student potential.

For Indian students in particular, such moments of recognition are increasingly relevant in today’s study-abroad environment. As families and students become more conscious not only of quality and career outcomes, but also the overall student experience, initiatives like these help signal how NTU is building community from day one.

Anna Audhali, Senior Regional Manager, Nottingham Trent University, said, “We were pleased to welcome our scholarship recipients to these celebrations and recognise the hard work that brought them to Nottingham Trent University. Beginning university is an important milestone, and events like these help students feel acknowledged, connected, and part of the NTU community from the outset.

It was especially encouraging to see such strong participation from Indian students, who continue to make an important contribution to our international student community.”

“Never known I would call NTU my second home, found my tribe here, lots of love from India”

Neerada Jaydeep Mane, India, MA Graphic Communication.

“It’s a blessing to be here. Thank you for the opportunity” Jennifer Rajasekar, India, MA Creative Writing.

As international education becomes more experience-led, scholarship support is increasingly being seen not only as financial recognition, but also as part of how students begin to form a sense of

belonging in a new academic environment. NTU’s scholarship celebration events reflect that wider shift, bringing together recognition, welcome, and student engagement at an early stage in the university journey.
