Nutanix, Inc. (NASDAQ: NTNX), a hybrid cloud leader and AI platform company, today announced the appointment of Faiz Shakir to Vice President, Sales, Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ). In his expanded new role, Mr. Shakir will lead Nutanix’s regional strategy, go-to-market execution, partner ecosystem, and customer expansion across the APJ region, with a strategic focus on helping enterprises transition from AI exploration to AI deployment.
The appointment underscores Nutanix’s investment in cultivating its talents, including Mr. Shakir. His decade-long career with Nutanix stands as a flagship example of internal leadership development, having joined Nutanix in February 2016 as the company’s very first sales representative in India. Over the past 10 years prior to this appointment, Mr. Shakir has played a foundational role in building Nutanix’s presence across the subcontinent, progressing through senior leadership roles including director of Enterprise & Commercial Sales, managing director for India, and most recently, vice president and managing director for India and ASEAN.
Under his leadership, India grew into one of Nutanix’s most dynamic markets, driven by rapid cloud adoption across enterprise, public sector, and financial services segments. As he steps into his broader APJ role, his core focus will be accelerating hybrid cloud modernization, scaling partner ecosystems, and driving enterprise adoption of Nutanix’s AI platform infrastructure across the wider region. In addition to these new responsibilities, Mr. Shakir will continue to oversee sales operations for India and ASEAN on an interim basis while an executive search is conducted for a permanent lead for those markets.
