Odd-even system of vehicular movement in Dimapur to continue

Dimapur:  The odd-even system of non-essential vehicular movement within Dimapur town and National Highway 29 till Chumukedima town will be continued from November 2 to November 30.

Dimapur commissioner of police Rothihu Tetseo today issued an order on traffic regulations for non-essential vehicles in the interest of public safety during the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic.

On odd number days – Monday, Wednesday and Friday – only vehicle with registration number ending with odd numbers 1. 3, 5, 7 and 9 will be allowed to ply.

During the even number days – Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday – only vehicles with registration number ending with even numbers 2. 4. 6. 8 and 0 will be allowed to ply.

The order said this restriction will not be enforced on Sundays and the category of vehicles under essential services will be exempted.

The government servants on bonafide government duties and vehicles involved in providing essential services and in Covid -19 related duties will also be exempted from the purview of the restriction on production of relevant documents and valid ID proof.

Two-wheelers will also be exempted from this traffic restriction.

The order said all heavy vehicles, except those engaged in the four-lane construction work with valid permit, will be restricted from plying within the town area and highway area from 9am to 3pm.

It warned that violation of the order will be penalized under Section 177 and 179 of the Motor Vehicle Act 1988.

The police commissioner appealed to all citizens for cooperation in the interest of public safety.
