Orang National Park and Tiger Reserve reopened for visitors

Mangaldai : State Forest and Environment Minister Parimal Suklabaidya has invited the tourists to visit Orang National Park to stay away from depression due to COVID induced situation by enjoying  the beauty of nature and adventure the wilderness of green forest. “Though tiny in size in comparison with Kaziranga National Park (KNP), Orang National Park & Tiger Reserve is one of the beautiful protected areas in the state and I, not as the Minister, but as a citizen of Assam, am is always fascinated with the beauty of this Park. In the present scenario arising out of the Covid 19, if anyone is feeling depression, Orang Naional Park is the best place to visit to free from depression by inhaling the fresh and evergreen air and environment of this Park” said  Minister  Shuklavaidya. He reopened the Park for the present tourism season 2020 – 21 following COVID 19 SOP in a well organized function at the Park complex on Friday afternoon . Appreciating the spirit of the locality and the media persons in their role for conservation and protection of this Park, he urged upon the common people to be more active in conservation of this Park.

He also inaugurated the newly constructed Public facilitation Center at the main entrance of the Park and declared reopening of the Park for visitors by cutting red ribbon. As a part of special COVID preventive measure ” disinfect tyre bath” are arranged for all the vehicles while making their entries where as forest staff were also imparted training on COVID protective behaviour. Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Head of Forest Arvind Madhab Singh, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (Wildlife) Amit Sahai, Additional Deputy Commissioner Kumar Surajit Bora and DFO of Mangaldai Wild division BV Sandeep also took part in the reopening function anchored by former honorary WildLife Warden Bhargab Kumar Das. Earlier, PCCF (WL) Amit Sahai in his welcome address gave a brief note on the achievements of the Park. Students of Gelabeel High School and members of Orang Xahitya Xabha added a  colour to the reopening function with performance of cultural programs relevant to forest protection and patriotism.
