New Delhi: Union Agriculture and Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar today said more than 11 crore 70 lakh farmers have benefited under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi. In a written reply in Rajya Sabha, he said one lakh 82 thousand crore rupees have been released to farmers in various installments. He said the scheme was launched to provide income support to all landholder farmers’ families across the country.
Replying to another question on micro-irrigation, the Minister said, around 138 lakh hectare areas have been covered in the country under micro-irrigation so far. He said the government is making all efforts to enhance water use efficiency at farm level through adoption of micro-irrigation in all the State
