Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed the importance of promoting year-round tourism in Uttarakhand. He highlighted the state’s growing popularity as a destination for winter tourism, winter sports, and destination weddings, and also urged people to maintain cleanliness in Devbhoomi.  Addressing the inauguration event of the Delhi-Dehradun economic corridor in Dehradun, Mr. Modi said that 12-month tourism is crucial for the state’s economy. Referring to his 2023 visit to Kailash and Om Parvat, he said that the number of devotees has risen significantly since then. He added that while only a few hundred people visited earlier during winters, more than 40 thousand pilgrims undertook the journey in 2025, creating livelihood opportunities for local residents.

Highlighting the benefit of Delhi-Dehradun economic corridor, the Prime Minister said that increased tourist footfall will increase income for people associated with hospitality, transport, and other local services. He also referred to the upcoming Kumbh Mela and said that a large number of devotees are expected to visit Uttarakhand for religious occasions. The Prime Minister emphasised that preserving the natural beauty and sanctity of Uttarakhand is essential for sustaining tourism and ensuring long-term economic benefits for the state.
