PM Modi. The Prime Minister addressed the ‘Peace, Unity and Development Rally’ at Diphu and Dibrugarh in Assam

 Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today gave Assam a big gift in the field of medicine. The PM has gifted seven cancer hospitals to the state. These hospitals are at Dibrugarh, Barpeta, Tezpur, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Kokrajhar and Darrang, while the foundation stone of cancer hospitals has been laid at Dhubri, Goalpara, Golaghat, Sivasagar, Nalbari, Nagaon and Tinsukia. This will be a big achievement for the North Eastern states as they will no longer have to go too far for treatment of the disease. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed a ‘Peace, Unity and Development Rally’ at Diphu in Karbi Anglong district. During the programme, he also laid the foundation stone of various projects. PM lays foundation stone of Veterinary College at Diphu West Karbi Anglong.These projects, costing over Rs 500 crore, will bring in new opportunities for skills and employment in the region. The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of more than 2950 Amrut Sarovar projects. The state will develop these Amrit Sarovars at a cumulative cost of about Rs 1150 crore. Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma were also present. On the same day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated a cancer treatment centre in Dibrugarh district of Assam.

The centre has been built by the Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF), a joint venture of the state government and Tata Trusts. The centre in Dibrugarh is among the 17 medical centres being developed by the ACCF. Modi also unveiled a plaque outside the Centre. Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma were present on the occasion. Modi inspected facilities and equipment at the centre located at the Assam Medical College and Hospital. He will digitally inaugurate six other such centres in another event to be held in the evening. These centres are at Barpeta, Tezpur, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Kokrajhar and Darrang. Modi will lay the foundation stone of seven hospitals at Dhubri, Goalpara, Golaghat, Sivasagar, Nalbari, Nagaon and Tinsukia at the same function. A Tata Trusts spokesperson had earlier said that construction of three more such cancer treatment centres is nearing completion and will be inaugurated later this year. After inaugurating the cancer centre, PM Modi said, “The hospitals are at your service but if these new hospitals remain vacant, I will be happy. I pray for your health. Our government has also focused on healthcare along with yoga, fitness, hygiene. New testing centres are being opened in the country. Modi said that for the development of the nation, the development of the state and the development of cities, villages for the development of the state is very important. The proper development of villages is possible only if the development plans are prepared and implemented properly according to the local needs, the local conditions.

PM Modi said that wherever the BJP’s double engine government is, it works with the spirit of sabka saath-sabka vikas-sabka vishwas and sabka’s effort. Pm Modi said that before the launch of the Jal Jeevan Mission, less than 2 per cent of the village households here used to get piped water, while now 40 per cent of the households have been provided with piped water. I am confident that at the earliest, piped water will be supplied to every house in Assam. Modi said that in the amrit period of independence, Karbi Anglong is also moving towards a new future of peace and development. We don’t have to look back from here. In the coming few years, we have to compensate for the development that we have not been able to do in the last few decades. Today, this resolve has been reinvigorated on the land of Karbi Anglong. “Whenever I have got a chance to come among you, seeing your love, your love, your belongingness, it feels like god’s blessings. Such a large number of you people have come here, they have also come in their traditional attire, for this I express my heartfelt gratitude to you. PM Modi said that as peace is returning due to the collective efforts of the government and society in the North East, the old rules are also being changed. But due to lasting peace and better law and order in place during the last eight years, we have removed AFSPA from many areas of the North East. Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that efforts are on to completely remove AFSPA from the North Eastern Region.

Addressing a ‘Peace, Unity and Development’ rally in Diphu, he said AFSPA can be withdrawn from different parts of the region as the law and order situation has improved in the last eight years. He said the law and order situation has improved with a 75 per cent reduction in violence in the region, with the enactment of laws bringing about changes. He said AFSPA was cancelled first in Tripura and then in Meghalaya.PM Modi said that in the last three decades, the previous governments in Assam had repeatedly extended it as there was no improvement in the law and order situation. AFSPA has been removed from most parts of the state due to control of the situation in the last eight years. We are also trying to take it back from the remaining parts. The Act is applicable in nagaland, assam and some areas of manipur. On the other hand, 7 Hi-Tech Cancer Centres were inaugurated in Assam today. Ahead of the inauguration of these State of the Art Cancer Centres at the hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, senior industrialist Ratan Tata made his point. Tata looked very emotional on this occasion. He first apologized for not being able to speak in Hindi. He then said, “I dedicate the last year of my life to health.
