Haflong: The Principal Secretary, North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council, Amithabh Rajkhowa, ACS, launched Rashtriya Poshan Maah in Dima Hasao at Haflong Circuit House today in presenc of NCHAC Secretary in-charge Social Wefare, Thai Tsho Daulagupu, ACS, Dy Director incharge Rajdeep Kemprai and other officers from line department.
Stressing on the importance of proper nutrition in building a prosperous nation Principal Secy, Rajkhowa asked the people to contribute towards a malnutrition-free India. He stated the importance towards nurturing children and pregnant women through a nutrition campaign. Urging people that Poshan Abhiyan should be practiced regardless of the programme or time restriction, he stated that it is a continuous process in order to have a healthy and strong nation.
NCHAC Secretary, TT Daulagupu focusing on an intensive campaign across the district for the holistic nourishment of children especially with severe acute malnutrition, said that with the help of Aganwadi workers, ASHAs and other health workers with 630 Anganwadi centers throughout Dima Hasao, it is expected that the programme will go well.
The programme was organized by the Social Welfare department with active participation of the Poshan Abhiyan team. Power point presentation was given on the status of the previous year and the plan for the current year by Davi Bathari and Sanjit Chakma respectively.
It is to be stated that along with the other programme, from 17th September onwards a training for the aganwadi workers etc is being organized by the experts from Krishi Vigyan Kendriya on holistic nutritional food as conveyed by Reshmita Saikia, scientist at KVK. Other speakers who spoke on the occasion were Deputy Director in charge Rajdeep Kemprai and DIPRO Purabi Phonglo.
