Preparatory meeting for COVID-19 vaccination held in Chirang

Kajalgaon (Assam):  As the Government of India has decided to start the mass vaccination drive against COVID-19 throughout the country soon, the Chirang district administration has also prepared to strengthen the programme mechanism as per the guidelines laid down by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare department.

In this regard, a DTF (District Task Force) meeting under the chairmanship of Gautam Talukdar, Deputy Commissioner, Chirang was held at Kajalgaon in the conference hall of the circuit house on Friday.

During the meeting resource person of WHO Dr. Hiren Gogoi presented a well-researched powerpoint slide presentation on the detailed guidelines of the MoHFW, Government of India for carrying out vaccination drive in phase manner including government’s planning to vaccinate healthcare and frontline workers in the first phase. He informed the house about the vaccination process and the steps to be taken if adverse event is arised.

He also stressed on forming of block levels at grassroot, arrangement of monitoring provisions for 30 minutes after administering the vaccine for any adverse event, arrangement of adequate logistic and available space for waiting room at the vaccination site, consisting of vaccination team in five members etc.He also informed about the provisions for pre- registration system producing self photo identity documents through Covid Vaccine Intelligence Network (Co-WIN)- a degitalised platform and the role and responsibilities of the departments concerned during the vaccination period.

In his speech from the chair, Gautam Talukdar asked the officials to perform their assigned duties properly so as to succeed in implementation of this vaccination programme in the district.

The district is planning to vaccinate around 2870 beneficiaries in the first phase.

The meeting also discussed regarding the status of pulse polio immunization programme in the district and the strategy being taken for eradication of this virus.

Among others, Joint Director, Health Services, Chirang Dr. Ratul Chandra Bordoloi, Pratap Das, DSP, Dr. Sanaton Das were present on the meeting.
