President and other National Awards to be given to the people and forest guards of the country: Union Forest Minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey

GUWAHATI : As directed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change has launched the ‘Forest and Animal Bird Conservation Action Plan’ for conservation of forests, animals and birds. Union Minister of State for Forests and Environment Ashwani Kumar said at a press conference in Guwahati today that trees are continuously declining due to increasing urbanization and industrialization.

Multi-storey edifices are being constructed by eliminating orchards and farming. At the same time, the habitat of aquatic birds is also not safe. In order to save them, cooperation from the government level to the common man has become necessary. Animal and bird lovers are also constantly taking commendable steps in this direction, but the campaign to save them without the common man is lagging far behind. The Union Forest and Environment Minister said that those who have been protecting the forest, animal bird of the country and who protect the forest and animals of the country with integrity will be given a carpet grant of 25 lakh rupees along with the President and the National Award. He said that animals and birds are constantly climbing the tongues of the people and the number is continuously declining due to climate change.

These animals are becoming extinct due to rising temperatures and low number of plants. On the other hand, trees and plants are being cut down in violation of the law and birds are dying due to the use of various chemicals. Poisons through poisonous food or bird skin are causing the most death by reaching their bodies. Ashwin Kumar Choubey said that he believes that if we celebrate important opportunities with the common man, it will help in promoting the work being done by the department. He said that if Assam does some specific work in this area, it will inspire the entire country.

He believes that occasions like Tiger Day, Elephant Day, Environment Day etc. He said this will also provide ample opportunities to promote better work and will also provide information to citizens about the work done. Union Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and Environment, Forest and Climate Change Ashwini Kumar Choubey today held a meeting with Environment and Forest Secretary, Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) and senior officials of forest department in Guwahati, Assam. He also held meetings with officers of CAF and PD, Food Secretary, ED FCI of state government, CWC Udis and other officials. On the first day of his seven-day visit to the North Eastern Region, Ashwini Kumar Choubey reviewed the progress of implementation of projects in Assam. He appreciated the Government of Assam for its performance of outstanding work. Ashwin Kumar Choubey said that the North Eastern State is of utmost importance to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and under his leadership we are working in coordination for development in the North Eastern States. He informed that earlier there were 5246 elephants in Assam and their number has now increased to 5719. The tiger population has also increased from 70 to 190. He particularly appreciated the efforts of the State Government to protect the rhinos. He said that in the last few years, the population of rhinoceros has increased considerably. Ashwin Kumar Choubey said that new steps are being taken to protect wildlife in Assam. The Minister will also visit these States to review the progress in Nagaland, Manipurpu and Arunachal Pradesh
