GUWAHATI : President of India Draupadi Murmu on Saturday flew a Sukhoi-30 MKI fighter aircraft from The Tezpur Air Force Base in Assam. It was her first flight of a fighter aircraft. President Murmu also posed for photographs with the pilot and other officials in front of the aircraft. After sitting in the cockpit, a woman officer helped her wear a helmet and complete other technical requirements, after which she waved a hand.
President Murmu said it was a matter of pride for India that the country’s defence capabilities have increased and now we are capable of securing every front on land, sky and sea. The President flew in the Sukhoi fighter jet for about 30 minutes. Murmu is the third President of the country to fly in a fighter jet.
